DH - Do you have any game day routines or rituals?

AK - My typical pre game meal is a pasta dish whether I make it myself or go out with the boys. Recently I have been mixing in subway at times just to change it up   a little bit. Game day I always have to do the same things at the same times and most importantly I make sure I match my hat with my suit and tie depending on colors, just to make sure I look good going to the rink.

DH - Growing up you always could put the puck in the net, but never shied away from dropping the mitts as well. Can you explain your roll with the ice flyers?

AK - My roll mainly is to just go out and be a pest, lately I have been putting up some points which is always a plus, I like to get under the other team’s skin and try to draw them into penalties so we can have the man advantage. My goal is to try to do as much as possible, whether it is getting points or a tilly as long as I keep my plus minus rating down.

DH - Going in to most games do you have an idea of who you are going to possibly fight?

AK - Typically i go into the games knowing who the other teams fighter is, to be honest just about everyone in the league wants a piece of me so there is no telling who I am going to have to drop the mitts with that night, more of a heat in the moment thing. There are times though when I know who I want to fight and know that I am going to fight them because of a recent game or incident.

DH - Recently you have been on a hot streak with putting some points on the board; do you find it tough to both patrol the ice as well as try and put the puck in the net?

AK - Being on a hot streak right now is great, but I find it part of my job to go out and expect to fight most games whether I am scoring or not. I like to be in all areas of the game so I find it fun when I can score and fight in the same game.

DH - Your brother Jerry is currently having a very successful rookie year in the ECHL. Do you ever think of the possibility of playing on or against your brother in the future?

AK - Jerry is having a great year thus far just adding to the end of last year’s season. Never once have I had the opportunity to play against or with my brother in a game besides drop in hockey. I think it would be a lot of fun either way but it would be great to play against him and snipe so I have some bragging rights on him.

DH - How is the SPHL and what do you like most about being a fan favorite in Pensacola?

AK - The SPHL is a lot of fun, there aren't many teams so you see familiar faces a lot and playing the way I do isn't great for me because a lot of guys want to go after me because the game before if I chirped them or what not. I love when I am on the ice or get into a fight; a lot of the fans start chanting my name or it’s just a long "Kuuuuuuuuuhnn". It excites me and makes me feel good that people come to watch me play and I entertain them.

Thanks Adam!

(11/5/11) Danglers Hockey sits down with Portland Pirate; Dennis McCauley.

Portland Pirates

Billerica, MA USA

Signed by Buffalo Sabres

DH - What was your hockey background growing up?

DM - I played 4 seasons at Billerica HS, then went to USHL for 2 years played in sioux city. From there went to Northeastern. After college played 1 season in worcester, then this year with portland.

DH - What lead to you choosing to play college hockey at Northeastern?

DM - The beanpot, going as a little kid, always was a dream. The campus is amazing, and a good friend of mine had committed there, so it was cool being offered at the same time.

DH - Who was you hockey icon growing up?

DM - Cam Neely, he began his career fighting, proved that he would and could take on anyone. People respected that, and gave him the room to make plays and score big goals. He’s also a great actor, Rescue me, Dumb and Dumber, guys a beauty.

DH - Best moment of your pro career thus far?DM - My first hat trick.DH - What is the best perk that comes along with being a pro hockey player?

DM - The best perk... schedule.. I’m at rink at 8am and home by noon.. you have the summers off.. and you make good money for those 185 days of the season.. what more can you ask for?

DH - Favorite city to play in on the road?

DM - fan wise Hershey, Pa, they get 11k a night, but up in Manitoba the people look at you like your in the NHL, they get a good crowd and you know Canada, they love their hockey.

DH - Who is your roommate on the road?

DM - It was my fellow Sioux City teammate Travis Turnbull, but he suffered an injury early in year, missed 4 months, so my new roomate is Corey Tropp. He’s great roomie, we are always on the same page.

DH - Tell us a little about the college hockey lifestyle on and off the ice?

DM - Playing in front of your peers in a packed Mathews Arena is a feeling that gives you chills every night. The student body follows hockey big time, and it’s cool when your in class and you have fans sitting beside you. The schedule is nice cause you play Friday and Saturday, so after a game Saturday, you can let loose, have a few beers with the boys and hit the town. Everyone knows girls love hockey guys. The flow helps too..

DH - What’s your go-to goal celly?

DM - The jump into a glass (only if your at home and there is fans) the pump comes into play a lot as well. The celly is one of the most important parts of the game. “Dangle, Snipe, Celly” enough said.

DH - If you had your pick what would you choose: Dropping the mitts with the opposing teams heavy and firing up the squad, Big open ice hit , Putting home a gino and topping it off with an even better goal celly?

DM - Big goal would be my choice, I don’t score to much, and when you get the game winner, it feels great. Although, I don’t mind shaking the mitts on occasion.

DH - What’s a typical day in the off season like for a Danglers Hockey beauty such as your self?

DM - I keep it pretty simple. Gym in the morning then hit the links in the afternoon and usually end up squeezing in a little pool time as well. DH - Can you tell us a little about your training camp experience in Buffalo?

DM - It was my second camp, I went to Los Angeles Kings camp the year prior to me signing with the Sharks. So I had an idea of what to expect. It’s always great to skate with guys like Vanek, Stafford, Grier, and to try your skills on Ryan Miller. It’s an experience you never forget. Camp is always hard, but its a good measuring stick to where you are at in your career. I got in a pre season game vs the Ottawa Senators, I couldn’t feel my legs until the 3rd period, but it’s a night I will never forget.

DH - Favorite Danglers hockey product?

DM - You know that’s a toss up, just depends on the situation, although you cant go wrong with any of it. If I’m going out on the town I’ll usually throw on the “Team Dangler” with the “Iron Leaguer” lid depending on how the flow looks, but “Dangle, Snipe, Celly” is also a shirt I’ve been known to sport.

DH - Here at Danglers Hockey we feel that being a hockey player is more then a game it’s a brotherhood would you agree with that?

DM - Hockey is a like a brotherhood. The locker room is a place to be, everyone can be themselves, tell all the stories they want. It’s been said by everyone when they retire, they miss the locker room more than the game... You come in, chirp the boys, have a few laughs, go battle, and do it all again… it never gets old. What is said in the room, stays in the room. When your on the road the boys all go out together. When something goes down, the boys got your back, enough said.

Thanks Dennis!
